->In response to awareness of all-out disaster prevention, the Legislative Yuan and the Ministry of the Interior (MOI) jointly conducted the Disaster Relief Volunteer (DRV) training.

Today (on 2024/09/09), the Legislative Yuan and the Ministry of the Interior (MOI) jointly held the opening ceremony of the "2024 Disaster Relief Volunteer (DRV) Training" at the Qunxian Building of the Legislative Yuan. Secretary-General CHOU Wan-Lai of the Legislative Yuan and Deputy Minister MAA Shyh-Yuan of the Interior (MOI) delivered their opening remarks at the ceremony. This training was expected to complete training of 60 Disaster Relief Volunteers (DRVs).

As per Secretary-General CHOU Wan-Lai of the Legislative Yuan, the Disaster Prevention and Protection Act has included enhancing the people's disaster prevention and response capabilities as one of the important tasks of disaster prevention and protection. Government agencies and the populaces should all actively prepare for autonomous disaster prevention and work towards self-help and mutual assistance. Through the theoretical and practical courses for Disaster Relief Volunteers (DRVs), disaster prevention knowledge and skills can be strengthened and applied in the workplace as well as in our daily lives, thus planting the seeds for diversified disaster prevention training.

As per Deputy Minister MAA Shyh-Yuan of the Interior (MOI), the Disaster Relief Volunteer (DRV) training constituted a preliminary education for all populaces. Those populaces aged 9 to 99 were suitable to take the Disaster Relief Volunteer (DRV) courses. Apart from individuals taking the courses, the DRV training should also be promoted within enterprises, civil society organizations, and disaster prevention communities. Once more people have been organized to take the DRV courses, through the common language on disaster prevention and protection matters, the disaster prevention and protection work could be implemented with more effectiveness and lower costs.

Moreover, Deputy Minister MAA also received his own DRV certification in 2018, who extended his gratefulness to his colleagues at the Legislative Yuan and the Ministry of the Interior (MOI) for taking the time from their busy schedule to run the DRV training this time. It was hoped that all could jointly promote the DRV training more extensively for the time to come and do our best in disaster prevention and protection work, striving to ensure the safety of life and property of people around us and exerting the maximum effectiveness of the DRV training.
