Minister LIU Shyh-fang of the Interior (MOR) inspected the Backup Emergency Operations Center (EOC), emphasizing the importance of enhancing the national response capabilities.
Today (on 2024/09/28), Minister LIU Shyh-fang of the Interior (MOI) paid a visit to the designated location for the Southern Backup Emergency Operations Center (BEOC) in support of the Central Emergency Operations Center (CEOC) to inspect and learn the environmental conditions of the site for the BEOC. As per Minister LIU, in the face of increasingly complex risks of natural and man-made disasters, the country must be equipped with agile and comprehensive response capabilities; hence, the importance of the BEOC which serves as an important link of resilient response.
Minister LIU first inspected the interior facilities and reminded that the planning for the ventilation system, lighting equipment, facilities and life support systems should all meet the requirements for practical operations, who also instructed that future construction should focus on zoning command response and spreading the risks; that equipment must be regularly inspected and maintained to ensure the exertion of the maximum effectiveness in emergency situations, and that relevant units should conduct response drills after completion of the deployment of the BEOC, so that the BEOC could ultimately exert practical functions during disasters.
Lastly, pointed out by Minister LIU, national security requires all-out support and cooperation. The Ministry of the Interior (MOI) is to continue to refine relevant response mechanisms to ensure that Taiwan can effectively respond to any disaster and safeguard the safety of its populaces’ lives and properties.
