->TZU CHI CHARITY FOUNDATION and fire agencies join hands in strengthening disaster prevention education where new knowledge on disaster prevention could be learnt through lively fun activities

On the morning of 2024/04/14, the 3rd Global Finals “PK Competition of the TZU CHI’s xPaGamO Warriors of Environmental Protection and Disaster Prevention” for the International Cup was kicked off at the Jing Si Hall of TZU CHI CHARITY FOUNDATION in Xindian District. According to the National Fire Agency (NFA), it was honored for the NFA to continue to assist in the construction and update of the disaster prevention database on the PaGamO game-based learning platform based on the Memorandum of Cooperation between the NFA and TZU CHI CHARITY FOUNDATION, so that children can, through the platform, cultivate their disaster prevention awareness from an early age through games, and establish correct concepts of disaster prevention, without having to cross the high threshold of learning the disaster prevention knowledge, while learning how to ensure safety under the environmental risks of extreme climate and large-scale compound disasters.

Indicated by the NFA, fire agencies/ departments are usually the first-line disaster response units, responsible for various disaster relief and medical care work. Quite often, civil society organizations also come forward to exert their strength to support those areas lacking governments’ supports. Under the long-term good cooperative relations between fire agencies and TZU CHI, a very solid foundation of mutual trust has been built. In addition to supporting humanitarian assistance, TZU CHI also provides comfort, logistics, and other assistance. During disasters, TZU CHI also stations at the Central Emergency Operations Center (CEOC) to coordinate resources and capacities from the civilian groups for disaster relief. Moreover, TZU CHI also partakes in the mobilization and exercise on the National Disaster Preparedness Day. Additionally, TZU CHI helps the NFA in promoting the community resilience and trainings for disaster prevention technicians, and deepening the civilian’s awareness of independent disaster prevention and protection prior to disasters, so as to allow the civilians to exert the energy of self-rescue and mutual aid during disasters, thus jointly protecting the safety of lives and properties of the community.

“PK Competition of the TZU CHI’s xPaGamO Warriors of Environmental Protection and Disaster Prevention” has been held for three years. In order to support campus environment and disaster prevention education, through approaches of cross-sector cooperation and public-private collaboration, TZU CHI integrates government policies, technological online systems, and the strength of various non-governmental charity and environmental protection groups, systematically promotes education in the digital environment, disaster prevention education, and sustainable development for all, and is also committed to cultivating the civic literacy of young students. TZU CHI’s efforts not only provide an innovative cooperation model for public services and private partnerships under good collaborative governance, but also set up an excellent example as an NGO in promoting disaster prevention education.
