Earthquake disaster

Caused by crustal deformation and displacement, earthquake often comes abruptly and unexpectedly.
This makes earthquake preparedness extremely important.

If you are totally unprepared when an earthquake strikes or are unable to respond to it due to panic, your losses will be greater than you have imagined.
Earthquake can cause furniture tip-overs and falling of heavy objects, resulting in property losses and injuries. Even more, buildings can crack and collapse during a severe earthquake, resulting in fires of broken pipelines and short-circuit.

Earthquake can also trigger tsunami and serious tsunami can destroy buildings and infrastructure in a large scale at one time, resulting in serious damages.
Situated in the Circum-Pacific seismic belt, Taiwan is in a high-risk earthquake zone. This is the reason that the relatively more dangerous medium- and large-scale earthquakes happen in the region after a period of time.
Therefore, appropriate preventive measures adopted prior to the earthquake, plus a good preparation and drills will largely reduce post-disaster damages and losses.
